Good question. This comes down to one thing that scientists really look for when searching for life on other planets – liquid water! We get that pretty easily here on Earth, it comes out of our taps and falls from the sky as rain. But once you leave Earth and start looking at other places in space, water is hard to come by.

Because of this, I think that we are most likely to find life in our solar system on the moons of other planets. Both Jupiter and Saturn, the ‘Gas Giants’, have a lot of moons and we think that some of these have oceans under their surface. This could mean liquid water – hooray! We have life in our oceans here on Earth so maybe some kind of weird and wonderful life could be doing the same on these moons!

So I would say that either Saturn’s moon, Enceladus, or Jupiter’s moon, Europa, are our best bets of finding water and therefore life beyond the Earth!
