Beating bacteria isnt how we are looking to deal with diseases now, there are so many species of bacteria in the world, and they are all competing with each other. We want to be able to keep bacteria that cause diseases at low numbers, but without knocking out all the good friendly bacteria that are keeping us safe 🙂
we are born with good bacteria in our guts – when we take things like antibiotics for infections, this can cause an issue with our good gut bacteria (resulting in diarrhoea). So, it is about getting the balance right. Indeed, for some baD BACTERIA
, WE CAN USE good bacteria to kill them – unbelievably this can come from a sibling and is called a naso-gastric faecal transplant. you should google this!
